At long last, the CD many people have been asking for featuring Steve Sharratt and myself. This was a late winter and spring labour of love recording but some of the tunes have been in gestation for several years. The recording is a tribute to Island fiddlers who have been such an important part of the cultural fabric of the Island. It also is a contemporary exploration of some traditional tunes and an expression of our own ongoing musical collaboration. Nominated for two PEI music awards. Running time 45:20.
"Longshore Drift refers to the changing shape of the PEI shoreline due to the action of wind and waves, an ingoing process that sees some areas erode while others are built up. This recording went through a similar process, each piece evolving organically like the shifting sands, time and change distilling the essence of each piece. We hope that we've created something that evolves on each listening. This recording is dedicated to the memory of fiddlers James Banks, Yvon Bourque and David Baglole." (from the liner notes)
